ANDREW CHARLES COMER
Regional Chief (North)
Andrew Comer joined the Tasmania Fire Service as a career
firefighter with the Launceston Fire Brigade in July 1980. In 1986 he was
promoted to Station Officer where he developed a keen interest in firefighter
training and development.
In 1988 Andrew elected to transfer to the Training Division
where he worked for several years rising to the rank of District Officer.
During this time he was instrumental in the development of training materials
that supported Tasmania Fire Service firefighter training strategies for many
years. He also achieved a Bachelor of Business Studies and membership
qualifications in the Institution of Fire Engineers.
For a number of years Andrew also held the position of
Australian President of the Institution of Fire Engineers.
Andrew later transferred to the position of District Officer
Tamar in 2000 and was subsequently successful for promotion to Deputy Chief
Officer – North in 2005 and then to Regional Chief in 2006.
Andrew’s dedicated service has been recognised with the
rewarding of his National Medal in 1995 and his first clasp in 2005.
