Rodney Maxwell PATERSON
Rodney Patterson joined the Tasmania Fire service on
15th July 1980 and progressed to Senior Fire Fighter. He has great inter-personal skills as an organiser
and co-ordinator and he uses these skills for the benefit and welfare of his
fellow workers and in fire prevention and fire safety eduction for the
community, above and beyond his duty.
His achievements and involvements include:-
- Initiated
and developed the School Fire Education Programme through a vision of the
need for the Fire Service to become proactive in fire safety
education. Was State Co-ordinator
of this program for 3 years for the 3 Regions of the Tasmania Fire Service
for fire prevention.
- Involved
in the Child Safety taskforce, regularly appearing on children’s TV shows.
- Initiated
Junior Fire Fighting Uniform for children to wear during school visits.
- Intervention
Program for young children with fire related problems on fire safety.
- Regular
speaker to Community Groups.
