CITATION

Brigade Chief - Bruce Kenneth CORBETT

Bruce Kenneth CORBETT joined the Wynyard Fire Brigade on 1st November 1977 as a volunteer member and rose through the ranks to be elected as Brigade Chief in July 1991.

With the amalgamation of some outlying brigades, Wynyard Brigades responsibility increased.

During that process and with the cessation of fire-fighter crewing at the Wynyard Airport, and the transfer of the airport fire fighting responsibilities to the Wynyard Brigade, he has overseen considerable change and expansion in the activity of the Wynyard Brigade.

He was instrumental in managing the changes associated with the recent co-location of fire and ambulance services at the Wynyard Fire Station.  His leadership and commitment are highly regarded by both his brigade and the community he serves.

Since 1995 he has also provided service as a Fire Permit Officer.  He was awarded the National Medal in 1993.
