Garry Sullivan joined the Tasmania Fire Service as a volunteer firefighter with the Fern Tree Brigade in December 1980. In 1992 Garry commenced a full time career with Tasmania Fire Service as a Senior Communications Officer.
Currently Garry leads Tasmania Fire Service’s Communications Division as Manager Communications and continues with his volunteer commitment at the Fern Tree Brigade where he is third officer and fire permit officer.
Garry has made a significant contributed to establishing and maintaining a reliable and effective state-wide communications network for Tasmania’s 230 brigades. Garry also leads the project enabling Tasmania Fire Service’s 5,000 members to respond using alpha-numeric pagers.
He was awarded the National Medal in 1994 and the Clasp in 2004.
