CITATION

GRAHAM RONALD BENNELL

Brigade Chief

Graham joined the Tasmania Fire Service as a volunteer firefighter with the Forth Fire Brigade in February 1974. In 1985, on the resignation of the previous Brigade Chief, Graham was elected by his peers to the Brigade Chief position and he remains in this position still.

Graham has been the area’s Fire Permit Officer and an active mentor of the Barrington Fire Management Area Committee. He has attended many training courses and conferences ensuring his knowledge and his brigade’s capability is enhanced. Graham’s family have also been committed to the Fire Service and his wife and children have been active members and supporters. Graham’s eldest son Stuart is now a career firefighter at Devonport.

The Forth community has benefited greatly from Graham’s leadership of their Fire Brigade over many years.

He received his National Medal in 1989 and his first clasp in 1999.
