AUSTRALIAN FIRE SERVICE MEDAL
CITATION
Rodney James Moore
Brigade Chief/Group Officer
Rodney joined the Tasmania Fire Service Gladstone Volunteer Fire Brigade in 1984. In the same year he was elected by members of the brigade and promoted to the position of Brigade Chief and Rodney maintains that leadership position to this day.
Brigades of the Mount Cameron Group of brigades elected Rodney to the lead area co-coordinators position of Group Officer, Mt Cameron Group in 1998. Rodney is also the areas Fire Permit Officer and volunteer representative on the Fire Area Management Committee.
Gladstone is a remote region in Tasmania and Rodney has taken the lead at many complex and extended fire operations in the area. Whilst the Gladstone community is small, Rodney’s leadership and approach is very well respected and the brigade benefits with good membership and motivation.
The Gladstone and surrounding districts is most fortunate to have Rodney’s commitment, knowledge and leadership in this important emergency service.
He received his National Medal in 2000 and his first clasp in 2010. Rodney was awarded the Tasmania Fire Service Volunteer Medal in 2010.
