THOMAS ANTHONY (TONY) DAVIDSON

 

Tony Davidson commenced employment as a fire-fighter with the Hobart Fie Brigade on the 27th April 1976.

 

He was subsequently promoted to Station Officer with the Hobart Fire Brigade in 1984.  After gaining considerable experience in regional operations he was promoted to District Officer in 1994.  In 1997 he was promoted to his current position as the Brigade Chief of Hobart Brigade.

 

During his career, Tony has gained wide experience in most facets of Tasmania Fire Service (TFS) Operations.  He has provided significant input into fire appliance design and is held in high regard on all operational matters.

 

Following deployment to the USA to assist in Firefighting in their 2000 wildfires, Tony used that experience to help establish multi-agency co-operative arrangements in Tasmania.  He is still currently actively involved in that co-ordination which has now become a model for Australia.

 

He is a member of the Executive Management Team and currently chairs a number of committees including the Tasmanian Hazardous materials management Committee and the TFS Operational Resources & Services Committee.

 

He was awarded the National Medal in 1991 and the First Clasp in 2001.
